29% Increase in Sales with this One “Hack”

Online marketing can be a lot of fun.

Being able to build “experiences” that we bring our customers through.

However, it’s important to realize that our best way to serve and help our leads is to actually ensure they become customers, in this way we can spread our impact and build our business in the best way possible.

When we have a Marketing Funnel…

We need to remember that the point is to turn strangers into customers.

Back in February, I had a little bit of a crazy idea.


I’m not certain if you’ve ever heard of Contactually, it’s a really interesting CRM that allows you to manage your database of contacts. Honestly – having used ActiveCampaign as our main CRM and email platform, I dismissed it.

However, I was checking it out for a friend and I had a thought:

What if I could use this to nurture our leads in a better fashion and start building a relationship?

So, I went ahead and gave it a try.

In the month of March we increased our sales by 29%. Yes, 29%.

What Exactly Did I Do?

The majority of people see an email coming from an email platform and already subconsciously dismiss it as “marketing,” even if your emails are filled with value (as they should be).

However, what if the email came from a personal email account and when they opened it, it was 100% plain-text without any type of unsubscribe button, making it a “real” email?

Now, what if you planted these emails at exactly the “right” moment when you’re generating leads via your online marketing funnels?

We tested it, and this is what happened:

Experiment #1: Webinar Follow-Up: Increase of Sales by 41%

In this case, for a webinar, we contacted those who attended the webinar twice. This created dialogue that would typically not occur and made people feel that there was a human connection. It worked extremely well and took less than 30 minutes to complete.

Experiment #2: Contacting Cold Leads with Extra Value: $9,204.00 of sales with 321 leads

In this case, we took completely cold leads from our Facebook campaign and sent them a series of 3 emails that were from my personal account, including a personal video from me. In total, this generated instant sales within 7 days of sending the emails.

Experiment #3: Contacting “VERY HOT” Leads Before Product Launch Closure: Increase of Sales by 203%

Before the closure of our 12-Week Lead Generation Program, we contacted those people who visited the sales page more than twice. In this email I included my phone # and in total it allowed us to generate far more sales.

YEAH, it was that BIG.

Want to know how to do it?

We need to decide how it’s going to be used. Keep in mind, we don’t want to use this on a large scale. The main function that we’re utilizing in Contactually is called “ScaleMail.” It allows you to send 50 emails at a time to specific “buckets.”

So if you want to send to 1,000 people, this likely won’t work. However, if you don’t need to generate 1,000 leads a week and want to instead follow-up with the 100 leads coming each week, your hot leads or those that have watched your webinar or demo, this is the way to do it.

Keep in mind that it’s recommended for this to occur in small “batches” and to hyper-target groups. For example, follow-ups to those who signed up to your webinar, those who downloaded your lead magnet and actually downloaded and viewed it, those that have shown interest in your product, etc.

Why is it so Powerful?

Simply put – people want to feel as if there is a human behind an email address. Using Contactually allows us to send emails without having to send via our email system, potentially making that email feel personal. If we time the email with the correct tone and placement, we can further help ourselves close sales.
