Tools for Entrepreneurs: Unbounce
Back in the old days of the web, if you wanted a landing page, you had to code it manually. A simple opt-in page could take hours, and that’s only if you knew how to write the code. If you managed to create a functioning landing page, you still had to deal with problems of hosting, maintenance, troubleshooting… it just wasn’t practical.
Fast forward to 2016 and now you’ve got options. As a busy entrepreneur, there’s no reason for you to spend hours coding a landing page, even if you know how to do it. New services are available to take much of the hassle (and all of the coding) out of your hands, leaving you free to concentrate on your business. There are several different services out there, but I’m going to focus on just one – Unbounce.
Ready? Let’s begin.
Unbounce has a lot going for it: a powerful drag and drop editing system, extensive integration, and rich analytics are just a few of the advantages this service provides.
No matter what service you use, it has to be able to integrate with your email system and other services to make it effective. Unbounce currently integrates with:
- Facebook Page Tabs
- Constant Contact
- Campaign Monitor
Unbounce offers you hundreds of high quality, customizable themes for your use. You can also check out a third-party vendor like ThemeForest.net for even more themes. Using a pre-built theme will save you tons of time and money over the long run.
Easy to Use Drag and Drop Building Platform
Unbounce’s editor makes it easy to work with every aspect of your theme. You can drag and drop any element (images, text, buttons, videos, etc.) anywhere on the page – no coding required. The powerful interface gives you full control over the layout and function of your page. You can use hidden fields, drop down menus, checkboxes, or radio buttons, among others.
Powerful Analytics and Split Testing Tracking
Unbounce includes a powerful suite of analytic tools so you can more accurately measure the success of your various pages. You can also easily track and manage your split tests. By testing your pages, you can direct traffic to the most productive page. This gives you a powerful edge in your marketing.
The support with Unbounce is simply amazing. From an extensive knowledge base to live chats with support staff, Unbounce goes above and beyond the call of duty. There is also an online support community and mini courses available so that you can get the most out of your experience.
Fast Loading Pages
The pages you build with Unbounce are optimized for fast loading, ensuring that your users can access your content quickly and efficiently.
Unbounce hosts your pages on their servers, so you don’t need to worry about losing them if you change websites.
Like any service, there are downsides. From our point of view, Unbounce only has two significant ones, but they could be deal breakers for you.
Unbounce is powerful, but it’s not cheap. It costs $99 per month if you have under 25,000 visits, which is limited to one domain. Adding another domain will cost an extra $5 per month or $60 per year. It would be wise to think about how you’ll be using domains – or consider using subdomains – before making the commitment.
No Exporting of Pages
The upside of having Unbounce host your pages is that it’s all locked into a stable system. That’s also a downside. You are truly ‘locked in,’ meaning that you cannot export the pages to another service. This could become a concern if for some reason you decide to move to a different service and have a lot of pages / sites built in Unbounce.
As you can see, Unbounce is an exceptionally powerful tool for your small business, saving you hours of work and offering powerful analytics and integrations to make your marketing campaigns as successful as possible.
